A statement of my art
I paint losing track of time. The passion for the creation of a painting that has never before existed is something that occurs from a deeper source than planning.
I paint in a zone of joy. I just let it unfold while tweaking this, smearing that and glazing always. Then, I stand back and take direction from what the painting reveals. Again, more tweaking, smearing and glazing, walking away and observing what is there; intuiting what is to come. I am found and also lost in the process.
I consider my work a gift to myself. It teaches me many things. The most important: To understand the creative process so as to appreciate the work of other creators of the arts. This has opened up a new world for me. In a non-judgmental manner, I can appreciate others as fellow creators. It truly is this creative process that compels me to paint.
I am so fortunate that I love what I do and I am ecstatic when others understand and love it too! |
